Undergraduate Degrees in Mathematics

"How can it be that mathematics, being after all a product of human thought independent of experience, is so admirably adapted to the objects of reality?" -- Albert Einstein

Mathematics is a discipline which requires the abilities to think logically and to reason correctly about diverse concepts.  It also requires highly developed communication and writing skills. Students will demonstrate that they have these abilities by completing a major in mathematics. With good grades in their major courses, a student can expect to have a wide range of opportunities available to them upon completion of their degree.

Degree Programs: Each student must choose between taking the third year of a foriegn language or taking a course with international content as stipulated in the Sample 4-Year Plans below.

Course Work:

All Georgia Southern University students are required to complete a 60-hour comprehensive core curriculum. Mathematics majors must complete additional specialized course work totalling at least 126 credit hours. Faculty advisors work closely with majors in planning their programs of study. For a complete description of the courses related to these majors, please see the following PDF-file excerpts (Mathematics, Statistics) from the Course Descriptions section of the Georgia Southern University Undergraduate and Graduate Catalog.
